Back to Barcelona

 These pastry shops are everywhere

Seeing things like this sitting right in the middle of the city is so foreign to those of us who grew up in the US.  There is so much history here that there isn't enough time to see it all.

In 1883 Gaoudi was put in charge of  Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família (Basilica and Expiatory Church of the Holy Family, or Sagrada Família).   It isn't supposed to be completed until 2027.

I'm not a fan of McDonald's but sometimes you just have to know what you are eating.... and.... it fit into the budget.

We really wanted to go to France but went to Andorra for the day instead.  It's a little country sandwiched in between Spain and France.  What do you do in Andorra?  Ski or shop.  We didn't ski so shopping was all we did.  The shopping was very high end.... we had a hard time finding little souvenir shops.  Would I ever go back to Andorra?  No, but I'm glad I got to see it once.
 The Bus Station
Yes, we did it again.  I had to get a Coke for the headache I got from breathing some lady's perfume for 3 hours.

Going over the border from Spain to Andorra

Next day we found our way through the subway system to a little booth where we bought tickets for the train and entrance to Monterrat.  Sue read in her book about this booth where we could get a really good deal for all this.  We had some trouble finding it but with the help from the police station and some others we found it.

Monterrat, a rocky mountain range which is the site of the monastery where people come to worship "La Moreneta," the black Madonna.

Funicular.... a "very steep" ride to the top of the mountain

We got to hear the boys choir in the cathedral.  Wow... they were amazing.  I tried to post a video but it failed every time.  Don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Thankfully, Sue did her homework and learned about some things that we should do from her travel book.  Next trip I am going to be better prepared.  LaRambla is a street that has lots of shops and little sidewalk booths... and LOTS of people.  We went into this farmers market and found some yummy stuff.  We ate some empanadas and gelato on our walk back to our hotel.
